Davidson finds inspiration in her travels, in the details of fine fabric, or by spending an afternoon surrounded by incredible artwork in a museum. She prioritizes staying current even as she nods to the fine craftsmanship and patina of antiques that tell a story of a bygone time and add richness unattainable from new finishes.
Davidson’s work is marked by a fine-tuned attention to detail. Beautiful wallpaper lining the walls of an entry closet, paper-lined drawers or custom bed-linens, results in a sensory experience. A pleated bed-skirt finished with gorgeous trim or a tailored slip-cover complete with dress-maker details contribute to the unsurpassed quality Davidson’s work is known for.
Jessie is visionary, always seeking to add a twist or punch of color to an otherwise intentionally subtle space. Davidson will find a unique object and reinvent it in a new way – a salvaged bird carving is carefully brought home from Belgium and repurposed as the mantle in a family room; a vintage garden gate found on a client’s property is framed, reworked and becomes a now-beloved coffee table.
In 1990 Davidson started her first company, Imagination & Co., specializing in murals and environments for children. Her clients quickly noted her talent and impeccable eye for design, so Davidson soon began working on complete home interiors projects.
As a way to fill a much needed niche for unique and distinctive furniture pieces, in 2000 Davidson opened a showroom in Lake Forest, Illinois under the memorable name of Juicy & Co. After trips to Europe, Jessie would return with armfuls of fabric, crates of antiques and the inspiration to design a signature line of chairs under the Juicy & Co. label. She also became the Midwest’s only dealer of Busatti fabrics - a handcrafted line from a small family-operated mill in Italy.
Walking into the store, future clients would exclaim, “This! This is what I want for my home!”. Today, while the storefront is no longer open for business, Jessie’s line of beautiful chairs is available for purchase here and through architects and designers.
